Sporanox®-Pulse is a capsule containing the active ingredient itraconazole and is taken by mouth. It is a member of the drug family called anti-fungals.
Sporanox® is available in 28 capsules per pack and should be stored in a dry place, protected from the light, at between 15 and 30 degrees C. The capsules have an opaque blue cap and pink transparant body containing coated beads. Each capsule contains 100mg of itraconazole and as with all medicines it should be kept away from children.
Sporanox®-Pulse has been developed to traet certain conditions which occur in areas of the body where medicine can take a long time to penetrate into affected area e.g.fungal infections of he fingernail or toenail (where the tissue is thick). Such conditions can therefore be treated quickly with 'pulses' of treatment rather than one long contiuous course. The product does not lose its effect during the gaps between 'pulses' but helps to reduce the amount of medicine taken.
Sporanox®-Pulse each 'mini-course' consistes of one capsule taken twice a day for 7 days with a gap of 3 weeks between 'pulses'. The number of pulses required varies from one pulse to three pulses depending on the area of the nody where the infection appears and the extent of the condition. Your doctor will advise you on the correct dosage required and how to take your medicine.
To obtain the best results Sporanox®-Pulse should be taken immediately after food.
Care is needed if you are pregnant, breast feeding or taking medications for other conditions. It is very important to discuss these issues with your doctor.
Like all medicines, Sporanox®-Pulse can cause side effects in some people.
